Planting on Steep slopes
Posted by Danny McAvity in Uncategorized
Slopes can be a unique landscape feature and finding a maintenance friendly solution is easy if the right plants are chosen. Sometimes grass on a steep slope can be a little dangerous to continuously mow, plus it may have moisture retention issues. Personally, I favor ground covers, like Asiatic Jasmine or English Ivy. Other possibilities include using mounding plants in mass planting arrangements, a few examples would be: cast iron plants, ferns, liriope, or coontie palms. Whether, ground covers or mounding mass plantings, these plants will stabilize the hillside and reduce erosion all while looking great and requiring minimal maintenance.
